3 Easy Ways To Be Mindful During A Chaotic Day At Work

Here are 3 ways to be mindful during a chaotic day at work.

1. Use Your Breaks Wisely

Although it can be tempting to pull out your phone and mindlessly scroll through social media, one of the best ways to be mindful at work is to use your breaks wisely and intentionally.

28 Mindfulness Techniques And Ideas To Enhance Your Life

Try to use your break time to recharge and reset physically, mentally, and emotionally. For example, try meditative breathing, gratitude journals, or journaling, in general, to try to be mindful during your work break. If none of those ideas work for you, then simply find a way to recharge your batteries while still being present in the moment.

If you use your work breaks more wisely, you will be more energized and level-headed when you get back to work. As a result, you will be able to be more productive, handle your projects better, and connect with your coworkers.

2. Learn How To Say “No”

At work, it can be tempting to agree to nearly every project that gets placed on your desk. Obviously, you want to do your best and put your best foot forward for getting a bonus or promotion. However, saying “yes” to all tasks is not always in your or your company’s best interest.

Whenever you feel overwhelmed or overworked, you need to learn how to say “no.” If you agree to all projects, especially when you feel overwhelmed, both you and the work will suffer, which is not the best strategy for being an efficient and functional worker.

Mindfulness and Meditation: Discover Your Best Personal Power

When you say “no” to a project, make sure you remain professional and respectful. Simply explain that you have too much work on your plate already, ask if someone else can handle the job, or ask if you can accomplish the task at a later date. Chances are, expressing your stress and inability to properly perform the function will be the better option in the long run.

3. Be A Single-Tasker

Everyone likes to think of themselves as a multitasker, which is when you try to do two or more tasks at the same time or switching back and forth between them. Even if you think you are a great multitasker, our brains are best at operating on one task at a time. For this reason, it is wise to be a single-tasker, meaning someone who focuses on one task at a time, at work.

When you focus all your efforts on one project or task, your mind is able to fully process and comprehend the challenges in front of you. As a result, you perform better, are more productive, and feel more connected with the work.

To become a single-tasker, try to keep a time journal because it can be difficult to know when you are multitasking. In your journal, write down exactly what you achieved in a certain block of time. This will tell you when you are single-tasking or multitasking. Adjust your habits accordingly.

Relieve Stress and be mindful at Work with Natural Remedies and Feel Better All Day

The ringing phones, constant emails, and important meetings can easily create stress at work. However, it can be managed with natural remedies you can bring with you and keep on your desk. You can control the stress in your life by making simple changes.

Meditation Success: 10 Easy Guidelines You Can Use Today

If you start feeling stressed, then reach for one of these solutions:

1. Replace your soda or coffee with a water bottle. A study published in Psychosomatic Medicine from Duke University Medical Center found that caffeine compounds the stress. Caffeine causes the body to release more stress hormones while changing how the mind perceives issues.

* You can enhance the flavor of your water with pieces of fruit like blueberries or lemon. Powdered water enhancers in a variety of flavors from grocery stores offer another way to change the taste, so the sodas won’t be as tempting.

2. Use essential oils to improve your mood, be mindful and decrease stress. Inhaling essential oils is a powerful way to enhance your well-being. They are easy to store on an office desk and can be used throughout the day.

* Lavender, chamomile, and lemon essential oils are commonly used to improve the mood.

3. Sprinkle herbs on your lunch at work. Herbs can affect emotions, so adding the right ingredients to your food can help relieve stress. A couple of small bottles of herbs can be stored on your desk and used during lunchtime every day.

* Cardamom is a popular spice that can relieve stress by increasing the antioxidants in the body. It’s frequently used in Indian dishes, and it can be added to many meals.

* Lemon balm increases calmness and alertness. According to the study, “Attenuation of laboratory-induced stress in humans after acute administration of Melissa officinalis (Lemon Balm),” this powerful herb decreases stress by reducing anxiety.

* Holy basil is part of the mint family, and it’s another herb capable of reducing stress. It’s not the same as the common basil added to pasta dishes or tomato sauces. Holy basil has antioxidant qualities which improve the mood to be mindful.

4. Use herbal teas to soothe your mind. Avoid the caffeine and stress that come with coffee by choosing herbal teas. There are decaffeinated versions available in a variety of flavors.

* Native Americans used Passionflower for its medicinal properties, and it’s a strong stress reducer. Passionflower tea tastes mild and pleasant.

* Chamomile tea is a popular choice because it increases relaxation and is able to decrease anxiety.

* Green tea soothes the nerves with its antioxidant and L-theanine content. L-theanine is an amino acid linked to stress relief. Studies show it can change brain waves to be mindful at work in a positive way.

5. Add stress-relieving objects to your desk. Offices are bland and boring, but desk decorations can add a touch of home and quick mental escape. They’re a fun distraction that is capable of cutting down the stress at work.

* Water fountains provide soothing sounds to be mindful of at work that contribute to a relaxing atmosphere.

* Zen gardens are often compared to toys, but they’re actually an ancient technique for relieving stress. Raking sand, organizing stones, and shaping the gardens clears the mind.

* Newton’s cradles are popular desk objects. However, the cradles offer more than a study of the law of conservation of momentum. They help relax the mind and improve focus.

Try these natural remedies to manage your stress at work. You’ll calm your nerves and lighten your mood.

Final Thoughts To Be Mindful At Work

To recap, work can be extremely stressful, making it important to be mindful throughout the day. Using your breaks wisely, learning when to say “no,” and becoming a single-tasker are the best ways for becoming mindful at work.
