Zen meditation techniques are extremely effective in reducing stress in our lives. We all have to handle stress from either work or school. You can’t close your eyes to make it go away but you can discover inner peace so you can deal with it.
Zen meditation is typically described as the study of the self. It involves being in different postures so you have the ability to bring the mind and body to a stable and tranquil condition. This takes place as you concentrate on images and thoughts as your heart rate slows down until you reach a reflective state of meditation.

Among the very best seating positions to do this is called the Burmese position. There is the complete lotus, half-lotus, kneeling or “seiza” posture, and resting on a chair. The secret here is to keep your back straight so that your deep breathing will go naturally. This allows more oxygen to enter which will assist and cleanse the body.
The butt must be thrust out and the chin embedded comfortably in the chest. The hands must be placed close to the body with the left hand resting on top of the right with palms open and up. The joint of the middle fingers are resting on top of the other with the thumbs slightly touching.
Your eyes should be half-closed and your head positioned to a 45-degree angle towards the body. Considering that it is hard to keep the eyes like this the entire time, you can try closing them initially and then opening them later on. Should to you get sleepy, simply open them wide.
The difficult part is remaining in a fixed position for 15 to 20 minutes. After you have established a breathing pattern, you can gradually relax the muscles from your face all the way down to your feet. As it decreases and oxygen gets in, you should try to concentrate on pleasant thoughts and exhale those that are unfavorable.
By focusing your mind, you are able to unite the mind, body, and soul so that your mind knows only today and not the past or the unforeseeable future. Aside from the right posture, you should always wear loose clothing. It is not wise to practice this after a heavy meal since a full stomach usually develops discomfort which in itself is an interruption to your meditation practice.

As soon as you get the hang of things, you can even buy a few items to make the experience a rewarding one like incense sticks, a bell, and even a singing bowl to mark the start and end of a session. Zen meditation teachers advise that novices should try 10 minutes of Zen meditation initially until you get used to it, then you can extend the session for 20 or 30 minutes. Should your mind stray, try a little harder to focus again on your breathing so your thoughts will settle down naturally.

When it comes to Zen meditation, there are a few things that you’ll need to understand. You’ll need to understand the dos and don’ts in order to discover how it can be a valuable and relaxing experience. You’ll discover that there are much more advantages to Zen than there are cons.
You’ll need to meditate daily in order to discover your inner light and meditate on some of the questions to life that you seek. You’ll find that there are numerous manners in which you can incorporate Zen into your daily life, however, you’ll find that within 5 or ten minutes of everyday practice you won’t just feel different, but you’ll be able to see a distinction in how you live your life with a calmer outlook and peace.

As for some of the things that you do desire to learn, you’ll need to stay positive through the learning process. You’ll need to keep in mind that when you practice meditation, you need to start off with some type of training if possible from a meditation teacher.
Your desire to meditate whenever you are feeling overwhelmed and even on a daily basis, you can benefit considerably from the meditation method of Zen. You’ll also want to think about changing up your practice with other forms of meditation just like a workout routine.
Finally, you need to accept other people around you and to accept yourself by learning Zen meditation methods in the way in which nature has planned for all of us to live as one. It’s a beautiful way to live.
